SUMMARY:Mesoscale Performance Simulation of Multicore Processor Systems wit
 h Asynchronous Memory Access
DESCRIPTION:We describe a performance simulation methodology for multicore 
 processor systems asynchronously accessing memory with the appropriate sema
 ntic being specified by the workload. The methodology combines concepts fro
 m high-level performance modeling with concepts known from detailed (low-le
 vel or cycle-accurate) performance simulations frequently applied in the do
 main of processor design. We will then outline, how this "mesoscale" method
 ology can be applied to simulate the asynchronous memory access of multicor
 e processor systems. We will describe the implementation of this methodolog
 y to simulate performance of workloads executed on the Cell/B.E. processor 
 and report on the results.
